ICS with a broadband ‘modem’.

A friend of mine is trying to establish internet connection sharing on an XP machine. He has an Intel broadband ‘modem’ which connects to his computer through the USB port. Everything seems to work OK until he attemps to connect to the internet; then the computer ‘freezes’. We think the fault lies with the USB connection. Any ideas!
