IE 5.5 Autoproxy using Dialup no good

Currently I have been unsuccessful with getting win95 or win2k with IE 5.5 to connect to an autoproxy server dialed in. IE 5.5 will connect, dialed in, when entering a setting under Proxy Server, but will not under Automatic Configuration and using an autoproxy server. Now this works under LAN conditions, but not dialup. IE 5.0 works fine, but what happened with IE 5.5?
