Installing a 2nd network card

Question 1
I had a 3com Fast Ethernet XL 10/100MB TX Ethernet NIC (3C905-TX)installed and connected to cable modem. Intending to install 3Com 3C905B-TXM fast Ethernet due to wanted to connected to another pc(laptop).

Is it recommended to do so? Any conflicts?

Any setting to set??
