Integrating high speeds and FHSS

Most wireless products that I have come across(Breezecom;Speedcom;3com etc)are either low speed(<=3Mbps) and use frequency hopping spread spectrum technology OR high speed(>=10Mbps) and using direct sequence spread spectrum.Is it possible to integrate FHSS and high speed and if not,WHY NOT?
