Intel PC Constantly Rebooting

by ireche . Updated 24 years, 1 month ago

I’m building an Intel PIII machine with 256MB, 20GB drive etc. I have also put in a 32MB AGP Graphics card.

Problem: Everytime I try to install an OS to the system the computer reboots.

So far I have tried changing every piece of hardward individually. Have changed to graphics card for a brand new card of the same spec. Have changed the memory chips being used. Have changed the power box in case it was a dodgy power supply. Have changed the motherboard and the hard drive. Have also tried changing the processor and heat sink. It seems like I have changed everything so far that I can think of. I’ve practically changed the whole machine. It seems to reboot when it starts to load the GUI. I’ve tried loading both Linux and Windows and at exactly the same point the system reboots. From then on it will reboot after the POST test.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Tearing my hair out at this stage.
