I installed 20-10-40 Cendyne cd/rw in fresh system. Mbd Vega (Amptron), 640M sdram, 700
celeron processor, 30gb hdd, floppy, 52x cdrom; win ME, Nero burn software
I receive and error message asking me to swap the drive ribbon cable if I use both drives to copy/burn a cd. Further investigation-information received concerned
a problem of interleave.
Due to the physical layout of ide1, which I use solely for the 30gb (80wide ribbon cable)
and the ribbon cable female ends it is impossible to hook this physically into this drive to get correct pin configuration. In addition, I intend on adding a slave later to ide1. I installed the cdrom as the master, and the cdrw as the slave-all on the same ribbon cable, both attached to ide 2.
Iswapped between master and slave-did not work. I tried uninstall and reinstall the software-didnt work; I checked the bios; the cdrom and cdrw are both recognized.
Both work fine individually, but working together-not going to happen. I have lost
several recordings due to this problem-the only solution I have found so far was to slow the cdrw to a crawl speed–this is not
acceptable. anyhelp is greatly appreciated.
