Internet Explorer 6.0

I am having a problem with Internet Explorer 6.0. When I go to websites I do not get the pictures. I get the little rectangle with the red X. So far from what I have figured out it deals with the encoding. I go to view then encoding and pick WesternEuropean (windows) it refreshes and I get the pictures. My problem is that I do not know how to get it to stay. If I refresh again the pictures disappear again and I have to go through the encoding again.

Any help on the subject would be greatly appreciated.
