I have 4 PCs (Win98SE) on a peer-to-peer network and one of them is sharing his connection to Internet and some other business apps. Everything was going well for the last 2 months but yesterday one PC couldn’t use Internet, Outlook…. I thought maybe it wasn’t on the network anymore but I could still use the network resources (network drives, shared apps and folders…) fine. I then tried the PING command (ex: “ping 192.168.0.1” with an internal network address or “ping PCname”) in Dos to “speak” with the other PCs but each time it said “unknown host” (same message when I tried to ping the defective PC from the other computers). I deleted all my network components in Network Neighbourhood (TCP-IP and NetBeui protocols, Microsoft network and shared printers/files service), then reinstalled them and reinstalled the shared connection client but it didn’t change anything. I don’t know what to do next. Please help me!
