INVALID DIRECTORY

I am currently experiencing a problem at my new place of work.The P.C’s here have started creating a directory c:\dir00001 which prevents the IE from running,P.C hangs on running scandisk and MS Word97 cannot run due to lack of memory. I really needsome answers soon.Thank you for the services you are availing so far. They helped me get a job
