Is somebody watching me???

How do I determine if there is some sort of desktop software running (in the background?) that is watching my every move? I’m not concerned about my Internet usuage, only about what I’m doing locally (Word, Excel, etc).

I’ve got Windows 98 running at my desktop and I connect to a Win2000 server. I’m pretty paranoid and this issue is causing me extreme consternation and unrelenting headaches. Any advice would help. Thanks!
