I read an article (I think it was on TechRepublic) that did an excellent job of explaining why “ERP” is a stupid term and why we should banish it from our vocabulary. The basic argument was the “ERP” or Enterprise Resource Planning has ancient roots in manufacturing but is now applied to any packaged enterprise-level application. So, for example, “ERP” is applied to an HR package, finance system, etc. and these this have nothing at all to do with “resource planning”. Do you agree? Can you point me to that article I saw? (I know I saw it somewhere but I can’t find it!).
