ISDN Connections

Never having taken too much interest in ISDN previously, I now have the opportunity to have a connection at home.
What would be the best way of getting the maximum benefit of the connection for my computer usage? Buy a specific ISDN product such asa plug-in card or just keep using my 56K F/D/V modem? Main usage will obviously be Internet use with a separate line for the phone.
