Keyboard not working

Hi,
I have a compaq DESKPRO desktop computer. The problem with it is that when connected with the compaq keyboard, only the function keys, the num lock, caps lock, ENTER keys are working. The other keys like the numercial and alphabetical ar e not working.

Any inputs on these?
