laptop 2 gig hd saying win95 301 mb?

by purvisk . Updated 24 years, 2 months ago

ran a program called fips20 on a laptop that has 2 gig’s. trying to install linux the install instructions said to use fips20 split harddrive into and make a unknown partion on partition 1 hda2 and asked to go into dos under fdisk and delete the unknown part. and thats what the directions said too dumb huh? but after rebooting it came up and extracted the bz2 files to this hda2 which is now 1024 mb and win95 is on the 301mb. confused yet? well then I could not get linux to configure right so I went into cfdisk another linux version of fdisk and deleted the linux partition and later rebooted and get no windows. i then reloaded windows on top of itself to get windows going again w/ out linux. ok here to this point where I now noticed on right clk on c drive in my computer in win 95 says 301 mb. When I know damn well I have a 2 gig harddrive. now some one please tell me how I can fix this. Or do I need to just fdisk /mbr and rebuild from dos to win 3.1 and win95 upgrade all over 2 hr minimum!
in other words junk the os and start over?
