I have windows 2000 professional running with SP1 installed. I recently tried to install a new Lexmark Z52 color Ink Jet printer and have run into problems. The printer has been set up as a parallel printer using LPT1 and also using a USB port with a Hub. I have used the provided CD and downloaded from the Lexmark site the latest driver and software with no luck. I have tried to install this printer logged on as the administrator and also under my own login (which has Admin privledges) andhave experienced the same problem. Lexmark tells you to cancel the Add New Printer wizard and use their install but this doesn’t work. The normal printer wizard does not work because you don’t have the driver files it looks for.
What happens as your system is being updated you recieve a message box titled “AddPrinterDriver” (not sure if this is a Windows message or a Lexmark message) that says “Access is Denied”.
This machine previously had an HP printer attached through LPT1 and it workedfine as did the install printer wizard.
Any thoughts or help would be appreciated!
