Links will not open

I am running XP pro on a P3 800, 512mb PC133, 2 20gb hdd. All is functioning well except for about a week ago. Any time I click on a link from either a web page or one that was sent via email, a new IE window will open, however it will remain blank.(transparent actually, you can see the program running underneath it) If I copy and paste the link into the address bar or even click stop and then go the page will appear. Im on a cable connection with a netgear rt314 router. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
