Live Organ, Choir recording

Wife is a professional organist and I sing in church choir. Recently bought a sony Mini sony R90 mini-disk recorder and it works great. Considering buying a JVC GRDVM50 digital Camcorder $899.00 on sale, can return mini disk recorder $289.00 so adjsted cost is $710.00. Can any one really tell the difference in the sound quality. Idea was to record music and then dub pictures of the European country side and churches in for the vidio. Live in Germany – relatives in US. Quality of other digital recorers in same price range-
