My system configuration follows:
M/B: Azza PT-5VMD
CPU: AMD K6-2 450 Mhz
Memory: 64mb 168 pin DIMM
Bios: Award
Sound: Creative Sound Blaster Live! Player 1024
TV: Pinnacle PCTV Rave
Graphics: Creative 3D Blaster GeForce 2 MX
I have had no problems with the GeForce 2 so far, but I booted up the computer this morning and there was no video signal. The monitor worked fine but did not display anything. It was not until the computer had finished the bootup process and was in Windows thatI could see anything. This was achieved by switchig the monitor off and on. The signal then slowly appeared.
I tried too access a full-screen MS DOS window so I could do some command line functions for one of my programs, but as soon as I opened command.com the video signal was lost again. I had to Alt+Tab back to the Desktop and again switch the monitor off and on again to get a signal back.
I tried playing Unreal Tournament, and the same problem happened.
I tried playing a 2D Dos Game, and the same problem happened.
Any program that runs in the Windows environment runs without any problems. Once i try to run a program in full screen mode, like a game or DOS, I lose the signal. Not once has the computer locked up when I lost the signal, and in each case I could get the signal back by Alt+Tabbing back to the desktop and switching off and on the monitor.
Creative Technical Support were, as always, inherently ineffective, suggesting that I enter my BIOS and change some settings, but as I cannot access the BIOS as I can’t see anything until the PC enters Windows, this is not much help.
I would greatly appreciate any help on this matter. I have very little funds at the moment, so I would like to try and solve this problem without the purchase or replacement of any hardware if possible.
Thanks very much in advance
