LPT1 LPT2 LPT3 com ports

Hi.
When I change my port from lpt1 to lpt2 or 3,,,The printer cant find the port? What do I have to do to make it work on that port ( lpt2 and 3?) Using win-2000
Also, can I use a com port? Maybe not since its a serial port right??
