Manufacturers proprietary issues.

I am A+ cert.and have little field experience and am starting a new repair business. My question is this. Does anyone know of a good source to learn about proprietary issues like Compaq’s diagnostic partition or IBM MWave card. I dont want to get in the field and not understand the differences in Systems
