Memory_Bad Pointer

Pentium III slot 1 600 mghrtz win98 128 ram
is giving me a Memory_Bad Pointer error
Anyone know what this refers to?

1. computer boots up with all software
working before error-message window
appears. I disabled all startup
software and message still appears.
2. I’ve taken out old ram and installed new
ram. Message still appears.
3. I upgraded my version of system mechanic
and ran the utility to correct any
registry problems. Message still appears.
