A user reported odd behavior occasionally on his PC station. Occasionally, system would
slow drastically, mouse movement became very
jerky and Internet Explorer would no longer
display pages, even though the ISP was still
connected and functioning. During testing,
I noted that base conventional memory was
reported as 636 kb in an MS DOS window and
638 kb in “pure DOS.” Also, during boot-up,
the BIOS reported memory modules in slots
0,2,3 – even though 64 MB DIMMS were present
in slots 0 and 1 only for a total of 128 MB.
Ran MEMTEST. Found no bad memory locations.
Cleared CMOS, set BIOS to defaults, no luck.
System has a SOYO SY-6BA-IV-2AA2 MOBD with a
Pentium III-450 MHZ processor. Has anyone
seen this before? Appreciate any help.
