message: corrupt registry

on starting up win 95 I get the following message:

there is not enough memory to load the registry, or the registry is corrupted. Some devices may not work properly.

I have formated and reinstalled and the same message has come up again. I believe the battery on the motherboard is faulty, (although this is probably a minor problem).
can someone solve this corrupt registry prob please
