modem configuration

I recently installed VNC and now I can not dialup to the internet. It tells me that my modem is not configured. Everything is fine with my modem. When I go into modem and phone options it comes up with the location information page but there is nothing in the country/region box. I can’t continue without first putting in a country. Everything was fine before VNC please help.
