Modem problems

by saxman642 . Updated 25 years, 5 months ago

I have a user with a 4 y.o. PC.

1.2GB HD, 64 MB RAM, Win98

She was unable to get on to the internet,
On investigation I found that the necessary windows components for conecting to the ‘net weren’t installed, so I did that. But that was only half the problem.

Now windows can’t find a modem…
But it’s there all right. I checked myself. But the odd thing is that it’s connected to the mainboard by JUMPER-like connectors rather than a PCI or ISA slot.

The Mainboard is an Intel Triton430 vx (integrated?) and the user has no manual for it.
The only documentation they had on the modem was a book by Zoltrix.com
but no drivers…

I haven’t found the appropriate modem driver at zoltrix’s site yet.

Should I just get them a new modem? or find the driver and install the modem?
If you can find me a manual for the mother board online that would help too.
