Modem: returning error message

The error message that i received. When more info clicked (diagnosis tab)

“The modem failed to respond make sure it is properly connected and turned on. If it is an internal modem or is connected verify that the interrupt for port is properly set”

Modem Model: PCtel K56Flex HSP PNP (internal modem)
One physical com and parallel port.
– Com port is used by serial mouse
– the modem uses com3 port (config. auto by OS)
– The modem card is configured as PNP using jumpers

System K6-2/300Mhz with 32MB RAM.
