Monitor on Win 98

I have several new Dell Optiplex GX 240 computers in my class and when ever the students are working on a document or on the internet the screen starts to fade to gray of change to a yellow haze. Dose anyone know what causes this.I check the resolution settings and they are all set at High 16 bit. Is that the incorrect setting for Dells running Win 98?
