Motherboard vs 20GB HD

I have an old j-791bnr2 motherboard for a slot 1 pentium II. The Motherboard book says I can have a maximum 8.4Gb hard drive, (i have a 4GB at the mo). Can I fit a 20Gb HD and partition it to 3 partions or do I have to dowload some software to change bios?
