Mouse seems to be working badly …

I have a laptop with me, and I currently use a mouse with a P/S 2 port for my laptop. Recently, my mouse seems to be running about all over the place, and sometimes it just dissappears. On other occasions, my mouse will not even respond to my moves!Is there a problem with the CMOS or anything?
Please HELP me!!!!!
