multiple tables as input to update form

I have a query which joins 4 tables and is used as input to a form. This form also has a sub-form which has fields that can be updated. All the relationships between all the tables have been defined within the database. When I try to update a field on the form I get a Microsoft Access Application Error. “the memeory could not be read”.
help!!!!!!!!
