My Data is Gone !!!

Yes, I accidently deleted some important stuff, it is gone from the Recycle Bin too. I downloaded a utility and got ripped off ($30), it undeleted everything, but it was all junk….
Now I hear there is a utility in Windows 98 CD which has a undelete program, which they don’t tell us about. Is this true? I know my files are gone, but want to take care next time.
