Networking a ME machine with XP

by mnkbrown . Updated 24 years ago

I have a ME machine and a XP machine on a peer to peer network. I also have a cable modem and use a router to share access to the net. The XP machine is set to obtain everything (IP address, gateway) automatically. It can see the router just fineand therefor access the net fine. However, I can’t see the ME machine.

The ME machine has to have a static IP address due to the fact it is networked with a toshiba E-studio 35 copier which also has a static IP address. The IP address of the router is set according to my ISP. The ME machine machine cannot see the XP machine or the router which is web driven is configured using the IP address of 192.168.0.1. If I set the IP address, etc on the ME machine to auto, I can access the net just fine. However, I can’t see my XP machine.

I have tried to reserve the ME machine address and the copier IP address on the router, but that didn’t work.

Any ideas?
