Networking w/ a Dell Laptop?

I set up a 20 user LAN network with dsl. 1 user has a fairly new Dell laptop running W98. The strange part is that the unit is setup to see & share with everyone on the network, no prob.
But for some reason unable to get internet access.
I have changed & confirmed all the settings to match the other systems on the network that have internet access. Still get that funny error message when trying to open a web site, “C system error try reloading the page ect.”
Any ideas on what to try?
