New harddrive on an old Digital

I recently acquired a 15GB harddrive for free along with a digital computer (Compaq now owns this division). Anyway, I decided to try to install this harddrive to the minitower. I got it in and now when I start up the computer, I get the message no operating system found. Do I have the cables backwards, or what?
