We were using a computer with two Western Digital SCSI2 drives as a CD Server. One drive contained Windows NT 4.0 which the computer boots to. The other drive has no OS. After a storm the computer locked up and during reboot the primary drive began knocking and then gave an error No SCSI Bios Installed! The second drive installs the SCSI Bios with no problem. Is there any way to recover the drive itself? I am afraid because of the noise it is making that perhaps the surge protector failed and the drive is damaged beyond repair. I am not too worried about the contents as I can always reinstall them from the CDs. But I was wondering if the drive could be reformatted and reused? I am new to the SCSI HDDs and I have never reformatted aSCSI drive. I have reformatted many IDE drives though…are they done basically the same way? I appreciate any input.
