‘Noise’ from Speakers

A few days back, I bootted the my system and almost lost what little hearing I have left. I was getting some real static from the speakers. Not sure but no new installs or anything that would do this. May have done some bad cabeling when I was working on hard disk / tape drive problem.

Any idea what/where?

Somewhere in the past week or so, the noise it went away, now it’s back. Not sure what I did (may have just disconnected the speaker cable). I did put a CD in somewhere and try toplay. That worked OK so I thought I had resolved (maybe it just went away for a bit). Thx, lo
