Nothing in the Add/Remove Programs list

Hello all:

I have a Compaq laptop with Windows 98SE as the OS. I removed a program via add/remove in the control panel and the app. was removed without any problems and as I was going to uninstall another program, there was NOTHING in the add/remove programs box. I have rebooted, defragged, scan disked and all that with no luck. Any advice would be much appreciated!
