NT not recognizing large harddrive

by rgrowcock . Updated 25 years, 6 months ago

I have a new 45GB Maxtor that I cannot get NT Server 4.0 to recognize the full amount. I was able to initially install NT but the system only saw 8 GB and not the rest. When I use Partition Magic, NT will not install at all. And when I use Fdisk to create one small partition, 2047, NT sees it and tries to install, but I get a lot of errors during the file copy stage. When the system then tries to boot, it says that a file is corrupted.
When copying the files to the disk, I got errors on about 5 different files saying that they didn’t copy. When the system asked to retry, I did and thought that those files where copied but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
Has anyone else had this problem or a similar problem? I’m really confused and frustrated, I know, welcome to the world of Microsoft. I don’t really think that my Server disk went bad, but I guess it is possible. Any thoughts? Thanks, Roger!
