NT TCP/IP Printing

I am using Microsoft TCP/IP printing on a NT 4.0 server in Texas to print to a HP4050 with a jet direct card in Atlanta. The connections at each end are through the internet using a 1mb connection at each end. Jobs less than 3 pages print fine but over 3 pages encounters errors and begins to retransmit the job over and over again. Does anyone have any suggestions or recommend any third party print utilities for NT?
