NVRam Base Address Invalid (AMI Diag)

Have a Compaq Presario 5140, that used to just restart while you were in Windows no matter what you were doing. It has advanced to where while booting it gets to the point where desktop should appear then reboots, it stays in this loop never gettingto windows in safe or normal modes. I ran AMI Diagnostics and passes all tests but PNP test saying NVRam Base Address Invalid. I have upgraded the BIOS to the latest version and still have a problem. The only other option I can think of is to replace the System Board. Any other suggestions? Would clearing BIOS VIA jumper work? have not opened the case yet.
