Okidata printer issue…..

I am trying to trouble shoot a printer issue and need help. I have a client with an Okidata Pageprint OL 600e. It uses HP drivers and they install fine. The user interface for the printer shows all communication and functions are fine. However, whentrying to do a test print, an error message “printer is either off or is busy” keeps coming up and the led keeps blinking, as opposed to a steady green led. The printer cable is quite long, could this cause the error…..need a quick resolution here….
