Operating Sys imaging and reinstalling

Trying to use norton Ghost to restore my original registry settings. I tried to use Ispeed to speed up my internet connection and it has never been slower. Don’t want to have to do a complete rebuild and have an image I took a few weeks back after acomplete disk format. Using the restore command to restore the image and it always opens a new folder in the C:. How do I do it? what software should I be using and will it restore my reg files.
