“Operating System Not Found”

I am running a Compaq 700Mghz/128MB Ram/Windows98 PC. Upon bootup I receive “Operating System Not Found” message. If I simply hit CTRL+ALT+DEL, PC boots successfully. Next time I boot up same thing happens. Any suggestions on how to correct this problem? Thank you.
