Operating System Not Found

We have a “Hybrid” Notebook computer in our office that on ocassion when you switch it on comes up with the messages “Operating System Not Found”. On shutting down and waiting a few seconds before turning the computer back on it will boot up normally. Can anyone explain why this is happening and how i can resolve it. Thanx 🙂
