Pagefile.sys missing in XP Home edition

I got a message saying that my pagefile has a problem. I checked it says the total paging file for all drives is 0MB. I tried to set it by using costumize but with no luck. I reinstalled xp and still no luck. I do not want to format. I have 80G HD, 65G free and 9G being used. Cant find pagefile.sys in C drive and I know its a hidden. One partition being C. Could someone help please.
