PC does not recognize my new CD writer

I have a HP Pavilion Desktop PC. I recently purchased a new LG CD writer, DVD player combo drive and installed it in my PC. For some reason my PC recognizes it as a regular CD drive and not as a CD writer or a DVD player. I tried to install ROXIO Easy CD Creater 5 but the system poped up a error message “The installation Software did not find at least one supported drive in this computer System. Do you wish to continue the intallation ?” When I choose YES as my option to proceed to install the software, it wouldn’t intall the software instead it quit’s the intalation process with out prompting an thing.
