I have two pc’s. The first is a HP Brio BA600 that hangs for a period of time often a minute or so when given various commands such as scroll, print, font change. Opperating system is Win98SE. The computer is 18 months old running MS office 2000,Mcafee Virus scan 4 with up to date definitions and no virus detected. I have done a complete reformat using the HP discs supplied with the computer. All non esential programs have been removed or not installed. All programs have been loaded using the original discs that were used for the original configuration. No new hardware or drivers were used except the modem which used the driver originally installed over one year ago. HP diagnostics say nothing is wrong and Norton Utilities also say nothing wrong. The fault persists. It is as if the computer is busy in the back ground. My home computer is much older and exhibits similar symptoms and has been reformatted using Win98SE disc. It also uses Mcafee viruscan 4 and shown no virus. Because of others using the computer, I dare not disable Mcafee. Could Mcafee be causing the problem or am I overlooking some thing?
Any help would be appreciaated.
