pc keeps shutting down

by jchew . Updated 25 years, 4 months ago

I have just installed a Soltek SL-65KVB motherboard and everything seems to boot up fine for the first time with my previous installation of Windows 98 SE but then
when I reboot it freezes at the Windows 98 screen.

So I format the hdd and install a sucessful Windows 98 and runs for the first time and after that the drivers for a Asus geforce 2 MX card and when I restart after installing the drivers it freezes at the Windows 98 startup screenagain . I have done
a fresh install about 2 times.
But now suddenly when it reaches the Windows 98 start screen the pc shuts down and keeps shutting down earlier up to a point now where when I press the power button it starts up for about 2-3 sec and shuts down I can’t even have enough time to get into the bios in time and this only powers on if you disconnect the cord at the back for a while.
and seems to be getting worst now it doesn’t even power on.

I don’t know if it has to do with the voltage of the Celeron 633 cpu

I think I have set the bus ratio to 8.0 and over becuase it has a auto detect feature and set the bus clock to auto

Please help

Thanks in advance
CJ
