Peachtree upgrade

I am trying to upgrade from Peachtree Release 6 to Peachtree 9.

During the upgrade, some of the data is lost.

Do I have to install special application to do this? If YES, what are they?

I need to solve this problem so that I can recommend to buy the SW or not.

I contacted the company, and they could not help me out because they do not have representative in my country.

Please help
