Our in house Ad rep creates ads for various newspapers, etc. To do this the company purchased a new computer and some really nice software packages for her.
System:
Pentium 4 1.7 GHz, 512 MB of RAMBUS RAM, 2x40GB UDMA 100 drives, Intel 850GB/850GBAL Motherboard (has on board ethernet card…was brand spanking new when purchased) ATI RADEON All-In-Wonder (64 MB RAM and all of the bells and whistles), 3COM 5977 OEM modem.
Software:
Office XP PRO (OEM Edition), Adobe Illustrator, AdobeAcrobat, Corel Draw 10, Windows 98 SE, Internet Neighborhood(FTP client…easier for her to use), all patches and updates applied with the exception, to this point, of updated video drivers. She is also running NAV 2001 w/ Auto-protect turned on.
Problem:
She can be running ONLY Adobe Illustrator, all sys_tray items turned off, no other programs visibly running in the background, other than essential Windows functions, and the rescources will be at 50% or less resulting in an out-of-memory message and forcing a reboot. This is intermittent, in that it does not happen everyday, but often enough that she has to come to my office and ask what to do. So far, I have not been effective in killing the problem, nor have I seen or found any information specifically related to this or similar issues.
My question:
Has anyone run across anything like this and fixed it or found any information on fixing it..permanently?
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Robert Clark
